We haven't really spoken about the Easter Bunny in our household. I feel the same way about EB as I do about SC (not me, Santa Claus): perpetuating a myth which is so silly, so devoid of any common sense or moral learnings, just for the short thrill of seeing their gorgeous little faces find the chocolate egg and woofing it down. Also, Easter Egg chocolate is yuk. Maybe I would think differently if they were Lindt balls. Maybe I'm just a killjoy. I've got nothing against sweet treats, actually I live for them and they work so well with the littlies (sugar is like a drug I tell you). But the whole bunny story? Get outa here. Rabbits are a pest in Queensland. Full Stop.
Magnusquote of the week:
Hey Mum, you eat, you poo, you drink, you wee!
And the man himself, as seen above, rates these bikkeis quite highly. Adapted from a Bill Granger recipe.
Podge bikkies
150g butter
1/3 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup honey
1 egg
2 tspns vanilla
1 cup plain flour
1 tspn baking powder
2 1/3 cups rolled oats
125g raisins or sultanas
Cream butter and sugar. Add honey. Mix and add egg and vanilla. Sift flour and bp in and stir. Add rolled oats (aka podge) and raisins. Roll tablespoons of mixture in to balls, flatten with fork on tray. Bake at 180 for 20 minutes or so. Brekky in a bikkie.
